The purpose of a Refrigeration Technician is to safely operate the ammonia refrigeration system and its related equipment by adhering to Standard Operation Procedures and Perdue Safety Procedures. To diagnose system problems and make repairs. Make equipment
repairs as generated from work orders, and be able to perform supervisor’s duties when needed.
Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
Be able to safely isolate and pump down any section of all systems.
Be able to do line operating procedures.
Must be qualified to receive or transfer ammonia in all plant systems.
Must be qualified to do routine maintenance on: Ammonia Compressors, Air Compressors,
Ammonia Liquid Pumps, Ammonia System Controls, Refrigeration System Condensers, Air System Drying Equipment, and Air System Controls.
Must have a clear understanding of refrigerant expansion with pressure temperature variables.
Be able to direct and train operators.
Have a working knowledge of Departmental PC’s.
Master the following skills while performing the Operator duties: Proper use of Volt-Ohm Meter, Properly perform Maintenance and Isolation SOP’s, Attend Compressor school, Perform line break and purge procedures, Proper pipe fitting and weld procedure.
(Not certified for ammonia), and Proper operation, PM and repair of other related equipment such as Broilers, Air Compressors and Ventilation.

At least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Strong work history, worked for one employer for at least 1 year in the past three years.
Willing and able to work in wet and extreme hot and cold conditions.
Willing and able to work around dust, feathers, animals, and various cleaning chemicals.
Willing and able to climb stairs, work in confined spaces, and various floor surfaces.
High School Diploma or GED.
Associates Degree from an accredited college or technical school of training.
Minimum of 3 years in ammonia refrigeration experience.

Excellent work history, worked for one employer for more than 1 year in the past three years.
Previous refrigeration experience in manufacturing/production, especially food production experience.
RETA certification is a plus.
