Global Mammalian Regulatory Toxicologist - Crop Protection
The Global Technology Development Organization Human Safety Assessment Group has an immediate opening for a highly motivated scientist to work in our Newark, Delaware, USA research facility. The position addresses the growing needs of DuPont Crop Protection to conduct and interpret toxicology testing results with novel crop protection chemicals in order to facilitate product discovery, development, and regulatory approval.
Job Description
Design toxicology testing strategies for registration or re-registration of crop protection products
Provide advice, support, and positions on risk assessment
Act as the toxicology technical expert for multiple crop protection chemicals
Review and approve protocols and reports
Review/approve product classification and labeling
Prepare or review toxicology sections of registration dossiers
Meet with regulatory authorities to represent and defend toxicological characteristics of active ingredients
Assess toxicity of candidate replacements for hazardous products/solvents/raw materials
Represent DuPont Crop Protection on technical and scientific committees and task forces
Liaise with DuPont's major toxicology competency, Haskell Global Centers for Health and Environmental Sciences
Skills:
Minimum Requirements
Ph.D. or D.V.M./Ph.D. in Toxicology, Pharmacology or related field with a minimum five years industrial experience
General knowledge of the major toxicology disciplines including toxicological risk assessment and expert knowledge in at least one discipline
Proven Study Director experience for a variety of toxicology studies (e.g., acute, chronic, reproductive, neurotoxicity)
Understands agrochemical registration processes and is current with major global legislation and regulatory directions for product registration and labeling
Proven ability work at the interface of science and policy, serving as a translator/interpreter of the science to the registration, regulatory and business functions providing strategic direction
Ability to interact internally with business, registration/regulatory managers, product stewards and other DuPont toxicologists in Europe and the USA, and externally with global regulatory authorities and scientific and trade organizations
Established network with regulatory authorities and toxicology experts within industry and academia
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
Ability to work in the United States of America
Desired Skills
Experience working with academic, industry focus groups, or regulators in order to influence toxicology regulatory guidelines, data requirements, and risk assessment policies
