The Senior Research Associate conducts area corn hybrid and soybean variety testing activities. This testing is a collaboration between Pioneer customers, business unit technical teams and research which includes planning, execution, data quality and process improvement. Known as IMPACT plots (Intensively Managed Product Advancement, Characterization and Training plots), this testing will be the primary data source for final commercial advancement of corn and soybean products in the US and Canada. Activities include timely planting, superior plotsmanship, accurate in season data collection and timely harvest to support Area level advancement.

Responsibilities:
Performs all aspects of pre-commercial yield testing operations including execution and data collection within assigned geography. This includes planting, data collection and harvest of corn and soybean locations within a defined geography to support local product advancement.

Participates in the development of testing plans meeting the data needs to support product advancement. Enters data into appropriate database in a timely manner.

Train and supervise part time/seasonal labor to meet project objectives.
Strong interest and aptitude to operate and maintain planting and harvesting equipment including complex electronics, global positioning systems and data collection. Ability to perform all aspects of equipment maintenance.

Implement refinements in evolving technologies, equipment, and methodologies to product testing.
Conduct all operations in a safe and cost effective manner on time.


Educational and Qualifications Desired:
Bachelor's degree in agronomy, seed physiology, biology, plant breeding or scientific related field and minimum of 2 - 4 years of industry related experience required. 5-7 years experience in field testing including planting and harvesting activities preferred.

Commercial Driver's License or ability obtain
Excellent personal interaction skills required for fostering teamwork, enhancing a good working environment, and effectively developing strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of people.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work outside in varying environmental and ergonomic conditions.
Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new skills.
