Accounting Division
The intern will be assigned to work in the FIN/ACC Division with the Group Heads responsible for the accounting of the Bank's operations and the financial reporting of the Bank' main funds, funds under administration, and pension and healthcare funds.
Responsibilities
Assists in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for the Bank's main funds, trust funds and pension funds.
Assists in the preparation of the IDB Annual Report.
Preparation of audit schedules and research documentation. Assists the senior and/or principal accountants in the process of answering questions and resolving accounting issues during the external audit process.
Prepare other account analysis and ad-hoc reports as required by the senior and/or principal accountants.
Review, analyze and process transactions related to (i) loan/grants approvals, disbursements, collections, income accruals and currency revaluations; (ii) administrative payments, refunds, and adjustments; (iii) payroll and retirement plans; (iv) capital; and (v) Fair Value calculation of the Loan portfolio.
Manage the loan, administrative and payroll subsidiary ledgers to ensure the accuracy and integrity of balances and transactions, and their proper interface with the general ledger.
Prepare financial/accounting analyses and reconciliations.
Qualifications
Educational Background:
Master's degree student or equivalent in Accounting or Business Administration.
Computer Skills:
Preference for a candidate who has worked with Access, Crystal Reports and/or with any accounting system.
Excellent computer skills including use of Excel, databases, and report writers.
Other Required Competencies/Experience:
Accounting and Financial Reporting: Knowledge of financial reporting in conformity with US GAAP and US SEC rules and regulations.
Demonstrated organizational capability and ability to carry out multiple and detailed tasks.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team, share knowledge and information, and express disagreements tactfully.
Ability to write and present orally concise, clear and precise analytical papers, presentations, and to adapt communication style to different audiences.
Strong analytical skills.
Audit background strongly preferred.
A self-starter and be able to grasp new concepts and procedures quickly.
Languages:
Proficiency in either English or Spanish with strong verbal/written communication skills in the second language is required.
