Inter-American Development Bank Winter Internship Program 2014
Knowledge and Learning Department
To address institutional capacity issues in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Inter-American Development Bank has increased and enhanced its efforts to strengthen public and private sector institutions which are key to the acceleration of social and economic development. As the IDB has piloted innovations and created knowledge to support the conceptualization, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs as well as the strengthening of managerial capacities, the resulting knowledge has seen limited dissemination. By harnessing and sharing this knowledge, the IDB can take full advantage of its potential and exert a greater impact on development.
Responding to this need for knowledge dissemination, the Knowledge and Learning Department (KNL) through the Division of Knowledge Management (KNM) is implementing a program to develop and execute a systematic knowledge management strategy, called KLAVE, for the dissemination of Key Learnings derived from IDB operational and analytical activities. The program focuses on several IDB priority thematic areas, including Education, Labor Markets, and Green Finance. Content from this effort is publically available through an interactive feature on the IDB internet page (http://kp.iadb.org/klave). Over time, some adjustments have been made in the suggested format for Key Learnings, which means some existing Key Learnings can be reformulated to be in line with the latest guidelines.
The purpose of this internship is to assist in the review and improvement of existing content (Key Learnings) on the KLAVE portals and in the addition of new content by reviewing knowledge content, and uploading text and images through an online tool (SharePoint).
Responsibilities
The intern will work with KNM staff and liaise with relevant organizational units' staff to:
Participate in an introduction to the project and its knowledge development/dissemination methodology;
Review existing Key Learnings (English and Spanish) online and make adjustments as needed to ensure their consistency with both methodological and the latest stylistic requirements.
Review content for the new KLAVE internet portal prior to its release to Bank and external users;
Upload written knowledge content, images, and other related material to the KLAVE internet portal (SharePoint database);
Collaborate with IBD divisions' technical staff as well as KNL staff in the completion of the activities in a review and approval process;
Other tasks to be defined in agreement with KNL management.
The intern will be responsible for the following deliverables, which should be designed and implemented in coordination with responsible KNM staff and consultants responsible for specific products & services and other internal and external resources available:
Updated formats for existing Key Learnings
Accessible online Key Learning knowledge repository for new content in assigned thematic areas.
