Dow AgroSciences (DAS) continues to be a growing, market-facing business within the Dow Chemical Company, with a strong pipeline of new products in various development and launch phases, and with many of its existing plants producing at their highest capacities.  In response, DAS has been investing substantial capital in Michigan Operations (MiOps) through a variety of small, medium and large capital projects.  As such, there is an exciting opportunity available for a Sr. Manufacturing Representative in Midland, MI.

 The purpose of this Manufacturing Representative Sr. Specialist (Mfg Rep) role is to provide expertise in executing capital projects for a variety of DAS plants in MiOps. He/she will be a member of the local DAS Technology Center (DASTech Michigan), which is a diverse technical organization supporting DAS plants and projects globally, with a majority of work load here in MiOps.



The Mfg Rep will align to specific capital projects by balancing the candidates skills set, experience level and available projects.  For small/medium capital projects, the candidate may fill a dual-role of Project Manager plus Mfg Rep.  For larger projects, the role may be exclusively Mfg Rep.

Responsibilities as Mfg Rep, regardless of project size:

The Mfg Rep carries the majority of project accountability for the technical integrity and operability of the final facility.  He/she plans, directs, and leads the Mfg Rep work process discipline of Global Project Methodology to achieve the business goals and manufacturing objectives of the project.  As such, he/she manages the following high level responsibilities:

    Assist in gathering and analyzing data and evaluating improvement opportunities, which feed into capital project scope.   (Front End Loading)
    Ensure implementation of the best technology in the project by integrating operability input from Plant Operations, Most Effective Technology (MET) and Best Practices from the Technology Center, as well as Maintenance and Reliability functions. 
    Lead certain Functional Input & Evaluation (FI&E) reviews with project teams, Operations and Subject Matter Experts.
    Serve as the conduit for the flow and evaluation of technical information between Operations and Engineering to ensure technical integrity and optimum operability given the project boundaries.
    Assist in managing project-relevant changes to the plants Operating Discipline.
    Ensure startup training is developed and provided for the success of project.
    Demonstrate visible and proactive Safety leadership on the job sites.
    Plan for and execute commissioning, startup and safe and efficient transition and return to operations (RTO).

Responsibilities for combined Project Manager plus Mfg Rep for small/medium projects:

 In addition to the Mfg Rep duties listed above, as Project Manager:
    Ensure that stakeholders understand and support the goals and project objectives; get timely approvals, make decisions, and obtain closure on issues.
    Lead Project Identification, Definition, Construction and Start-up, with direct accountability for the Cost, Schedule, Safety, and Quality of the project.
    Generate and route Capital Authorization Requests, and ultimately manage Project Closure.
    Manage preparation of Technology Implementation Plans (TIP) and Project Execution Plans (PEP).
    Review the overall design and construction of the project to ensure the facilities and equipment are engineered and built according to the key project plans and within the authorized schedule and cost limitations.
    Interface with various disciplines, as required to ensure the design, installation and final operability of the project.
    Work directly with Business Engineering Management Sponsor (BEMS) to address any major constraints or disconnects associated with scope, cost or schedule.
    Work with Operations to coordinate planned shutdowns and start-ups.
