DuPont Pioneer is a leader in plant biotechnology, including the discovery, development and delivery of elite crop genetics. Our Trait Informatics department is looking for a creative Data Warehouse Manager who likes to apply his or her skills in hands-on projects and project management work as we build out our infrastructure and design and implement our next generation research data warehouse.

The data warehouse team enables scientists and researchers to perform complex analyses and make better decisions based on integrated scientific data. The successful candidate will work as part of a multifunctional, geographically distributed team to meet researcher needs in the data integration, data mining and reporting domains.

Duties and responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position include operational responsibility for data warehouse processes, planning, organizing and prioritizing project work in an Agile framework as well as hands-on design and implementation of Data warehouse components.

The successful candidate will also work with business analysts, research partners and software development teams to define business rules and data processing activities and translate them into requirement documentation and models suitable for system design and development.

Skills:


Education and experience:

Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and a minimum of 6 years of data warehouse development experience required with at least 2 years of technical leadership or project management experience. Equivalent levels of relevant education and experience will also be considered.


Competencies:

Required competencies for this position include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a project from design to successful implementation
  • Hands-on experience developing complex data warehouses
  • Ability to discern complex scientific data
  • Proficient in ETL / ELT strategies, and know at least one tool in-depth (Informatica preferred)
  • Strong database design skills and experience processing and integrating highly complex transactional data.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle and PL/SQL
  • Expert knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies (Scrum / ScrumBan)

The following experience is highly desirable, but not required:
  • Experience with MS-SQL Server
  • Experience with Sybase
  • Experience with appliance approaches to data warehousing (Teradata, Netezza)
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments, PERL, Python and shell scripting a plus.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as QlikView, Spotfire or Business Objects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with integration patterns for big data systems (Hadoop and similar)
