We currently have a Packaging Area Supervisor opportunity at our Food Processing Plant in Moses Lake.

Job Summary

The Packaging Area Supervisor is responsible for planning and coordinating the packaging activities with shift management and other support personnel.
This position will plan and recommend changes in procedure and will lead productivity improvement efforts in their area.
They will advise the Shift Manager of current conditions and support the Shift Managers accountability in their areas.
This position will function primarily as a coordinator and facilitator of the routine operations of the Packaging Area.
The Packaging Area Supervisor reports to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities

- Assists in training packaging personnel in the proper methods of equipment operation, record keeping, interdepartmental communication and all other necessary packaging procedures.

- Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.

- Ensures assigned functions such as packaging, specifications and procedure maintenance, etc., are handled in an accurate and timely manner.

- Plans and coordinates the packaging activities with shift management and other support personnel.

Requirements

- Two plus years related experience and/or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for meeting the minimum requirements.

- Knowledge is required in the area of statistics, quality standards, packaging methods, microbiology and labor relations.

- Must have knowledge of the procedures and programs in place in the organization to ensure employee safety (occupational health, fire safety and emergency response plan), and the ability to take appropriate and immediate actions in case of an emergency.

- Must have knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility.

- Must have knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing, including its safe usage, maintenance and storage.

- Must have knowledge of and ability to identify a problem and use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.

- Must have knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs and assuring quality deliverables.

- Must have knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training.
