The R&D IT organization has an excellent opportunity available for a Technical Project Manager.  This position is responsible for oversight of new technology adoption and rollout on a core engineering team.  The Technical Project Manager will develop custom roadmaps for each new technology adoption in collaboration with teams both inside R&D IT and across the Monsanto organization.  This position will partner with the Architecture team to plan and execute new technology transitions from proof-of-concept into pilot projects.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to successfully partner with teams and IT leadership to ensure effective implementation of new technology initiatives.

Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate, schedule and measure project deliverables across teams composed of Software Engineers, Test Engineers and Business Analysts while performing the duties of a Scrum Master.
  • Coordinate with the System Integration Testing team as necessary.
  • Leveraging and ensuring adoption of project management and technical practices, metrics and standards.
  • Identify potential challenges and barriers to new technology adoptions and provide solutions to overcome.
  • Provide effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership and coaching to support new technology adoptions.
  • Apply and execute the custom roadmap including coordinating spikes, team selection and creation, and defining governance model to ensure long-term oversight of new technology.
  • Provide feedback to people managers about the performance of individuals on the new technology team.
Qualifications:
Required skills/experience:
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or MIS (or related field)
  • 2+ years of IT project management experience
  • Demonstrated project management success leading software development teams
  • Ability to effectively lead and drive change in a dynamic environment
  • Effectively lead and influence peers and leaders in a matrix environment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail evidenced through sound analytical skills
  • Ability to creatively solve problems and provide timely and sound recommendations
  • Results orientation with the ability to effectively prioritize and work in ambiguous situations requiring strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to quickly learn core concepts and industry trends of new technologies
Desired skills/experience:
  • MS in Computer Science, Engineering or MIS (or a related field) or MBA
  • Experience leveraging Lean principles in an IT environment
  • Experience with Agile teams
  • Experience developing software in accordance with government regulations such as those created by the EPA and FDA

Technology savvy ?? a background in software engineering is beneficial
