Description:

As the Retail Store Manager, you will supervise the entire operation of the Marion Cooperative locaiton in Marion, VA to provide the most efficient and economical service possible to customers and members on a sound financial basis.


    Perform management functions, such as, volume building, merchandising, budgeting, credit control, accounting, inventory, expense control and enforcement of Southern States No Tolerance Policy.
    Employ, train, develop, supervise and terminate personnel in a retail location.  To provide quality service within acceptable productivity ratios.
    Direct and perform fieldwork, including selling, and building good will.
    Comply with all government regulations to maintain a minimal level of liability for the retail location.  Examples:  OSHA Wage and Hour Law, EEO, Sales Tax, etc.
    Operate the business for adequate return on investment to keep it financially sound.
    Responsible and accountable for all environmental and safety compliance at retail locations.
    Maintain good relations with local civic leaders, patrons and board, keeping the Southern States image at a very high level in the community.
    Supervise truck and equipment maintenance, routes, degree-day systems, use of loaned equipment, which requires climbing, crawling on and around equipment being inspected.
    Handle all complaints promptly and thoroughly.
    Responsible for Budget Compliance
    Participate in schools and management meetings as necessary.
    Practice, promote and monitor Southern States Business Philosophy.

        Four year college degree in Agriculture or Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
        Able to pass background check and drug test.
        Minimum of 3 years experience with Southern States or equivalent.
        Valid drivers license.
        May need to be CDL qualified.

    Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift/carry 100 pounds.  Vision, hearing and speech essential.  Hand coordination to use computer. May require a valid drivers license. Job requires contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
