We currently have an Automation Controls Engineer position available at our newest potato processing plant in Caldwell, ID.

Job Summary

This Engineer ensures the efficient operation of all process automation in the plant. This includes integration, maintenance, sanitation, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical and electronic equipment. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the electrical and electronic equipment throughout the plant and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.

Responsibilities

•Installs, operates, and troubleshoots all central process automation equipment including, but not limited to, computers, programmable controllers, and peripheral electrical equipment in the plant
•Performs & ensures reliable programming of Allen Bradley PLC’s, Factory Talk, SCADA, and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
•Oversees and performs all instrumentation calibration
•Maintains records and back-up documentation for all software programs
•Assists Engineering and others in developing plans, control sequences, and programs in selecting control equipment for capital and other projects
•Troubleshoots and makes minor and major equipment repairs in order to prevent or minimize equipment and plant downtime
•Oversees and performs preventative/predictive maintenance on electrical equipment and automation throughout the plant
•Ensures proper inventory of all automation and instrumentation for spare parts throughout the facility
•Creates, performs and completes work orders in the system as assigned, or as needed, as well as plans and schedules additional work as needed
•Assists with training plant personnel
•Documents, monitors, maintains, and assists with reporting shift events, logging Predictive Maintenance data, and assists with work planning utilizing information systems and productivity software
•Maintains Company standards for quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs
•Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of all processing equipment and tools
•Maintains necessary levels of communication with team members and other support groups in a participative management style conducive with operational goals
•Ensures that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards

Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or other related discipline and four + years of relevant work experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered
•Must have advanced knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
•Must have advanced knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley), VFDs, microprocessors, sensors and various instrumentation to include but not limited to level sensors, temperature sensors, pressure transducers, transmitters, limit switches, position sensors and I/P control
•Must have advanced knowledge of instrumentation communication/calibration tools such as HART or BusNetworks (ASi, DeviceNet, Ethernet, Foundation Fieldbus)
•Must have advanced knowledge of computers including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
•Must have advanced knowledge of pneumatic instrumentation, electronic instrumentation, microprocessors and digital systems
•Must have knowledge of equipment performance metrics and setup adjustments, calibrations, and alignments
•Must be able to read and interpret technical data, manuals, blue prints and schematics
•Must be able to program and work on PLC’s (Allen Bradley preferred), HMI’s and VFD’s, and BUS networks, including but not limited to DeviceNet, FieldBUS, ProfiBUS, Asi BUS, HART, Ethernet
•Must have experience working with pneumatic instrumentation, electronic instrumentation, microprocessors and digital systems
•Must be able to setup and work with Historians and historical data
•Must be able to design and implement complex equipment code for stand-alone or integrate into existing code.
•Must have experience performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
