We have an exciting opportunity within our CHS Hedging Business Group for an accountant who will be responsible for the accurate balancing, reporting, and accounting for exchange-traded and over-the-counter commodity brokerage transactions. This position is located in our Inver Grove Heights corporate office.
You Will:
Accurate balancing, reporting, and accounting for exchange-traded and over-the-counter commodity brokerage transactions.
Customer service, database use & maintenance, and other technology-related projects/requests. Accurate and timely processing, reconciliation, reporting and projection of cash and segregated funds as well as perform daily reconciliation of new trading activity.
Reconcile broker account futures & options transactions to clearing houses & carrying brokers, with regard to commodity positions and financial status; analyze & ensure that accounts are margined to maximize cash efficiency and interest income. Analyze cash position and execute short-term security transactions (e.g. Treasury Bills) as needed to enhance interest income.
Prepare general ledger journal entries for activity.
Process, analyze, and reconcile customer and counterparty transactions, with regard to commodity positions, financial status, & general ledger. Provide exceptional customer service by researching, resolving, and/or escalating inquiries.
Conduct all business in compliance with GAAP, CHI Policy & Procedures, and regulations set forth by the CFTC, NFA, and commodity exchanges. This position functions in a highly-regulated environment where errors or mishandling of transactions or funds can result in fines, judgments, or other legal actions. All activity is subject to regular audits in addition to CHS Internal Audit and the appointed CHS public accounting firm.
Environment is extremely time-sensitive & highly-regulated. Varied workload that is unpredictable and dependent on market conditions.
4 year degree in degree in accounting, business or related area of study with at least 4 years of accounting experience.
Requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Series 3 license obtainable.
Excellent computer literacy and familiarity of the WINDOWS® family of software is mandatory.
Strong communication, inter-personal and teamwork skills.
Able to prioritize and work independently.
Detail oriented and flexible.
Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills necessary for this highly-regulated and time-sensitive brokerage environment.
