TDM Farms, the hog production division of Hog Slat, Incorporated, is seeking a professional with experience in pork production and research to manager our Wean-to-Finish Research Farm located in Denver, IN. Hog Slat, Inc. is the world's leading provider of equipment and turn-key facilities to the pork industry. With the capability to test new products (penning, flooring, feeding heating and ventilation) on our research farms, we can ensure that Hog Slat provides equipment that is not only safe for animals but also cost effective and efficient for our customers.

Currently selling over 500,000 market hogs annually, TDM Farms raises livestock in both company owned farms and contract farms located in North Carolina, Illinois and Indiana. By raising our own livestock, we stay connected to the needs of swine producers. The primary focus of the Research Farm Manager will be centered on the welfare of the animals in the research facility as well as the careful management of on-going research projects.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain scientific research in a manner that customers can understand are necessities. In addition to regular communication with the Research & Development and Sales departments in Hog Slat's Manufacturing division, the Research Farm Manager will also work with University and independent research professionals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as business conditions change.

Wean-to Finish Farm Manager Duties:
* Care of animals on the Research Farm in a manner consistent with TDM's established animal welfare practices (includes day-to-day decision making on care, health and well-being of pig groups)
* Management of the pig flow and production performance of the Research Farm
* Maintenance of and adherence to TDM's established bio-security protocol
* Inventory management and accuracy
* Upkeep of site appearance and equipment through preventative maintenance
* Alarm Response and Monitoring

Duties Related to Research Function:

* Implement new products and technology on the Research Farm and provide trial results and feedback to Hog Slat Sales Department.
* Communicate with TDM Production Manager and Hog Slat R&D Manager regarding upcoming trials and related equipment needs
* In cooperation with University and independent research professionals and Hog Slat's Manufacturing R&D department; create and execute protocol for equipment trials
* Responsible for the timely submission of all required records and reports
* Host tours and provide support to Hog Slat Sales Department, customers and other industry professionals.
* Manage and monitory Feed Logic automated feed delivery units

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
The IDEAL CANDIDATE will have the following experience/educational background:

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Animal Science or related field OR and Associate's Degree in similar fields with at least 2 years of experience working in a pork production facility required (additional experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree)
* Experience in safe animal handling practices
* A proven track record in conducting and managing research trials or commercial operations with a research component
* Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
* Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel with the ability to easily learn and use new software
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
* Satisfactory driving record
