Process Technician - Buffalo, NY
This is a non-exempt level position
Position Summary:
The Process Technician is responsible for the scheduling and completion of plant work orders needed for repair or upgrades. A main focus of this position is the ability to program PLC ladder logic and be proficient in troubleshooting the processes. They coordinate and discuss plans with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Supervisor to maximize performance and help control the Maintenance and Repair Costs. The technician also assists in the maintenance of the spare parts inventory, and is also in charge of setting up preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and maintaining up-to-date procedures for executing same.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for responding to trouble calls from the floor - electrical and mechanical
Coordinate and support maintenance personnel and contractors to achieve completion of work in a safe and efficient manner
Coordinate and discuss plans with Plant Manager to maximize performance and help control M&R Costs
Oversee the application and completion of the facility's preventative maintenance schedules and work orders, and assign work on a daily basis
Support the purchasing of spare parts and supplies in coordination with the Plant Manager
Contact contractors and vendors directly when needed to assist in troubleshooting and maintaining plant equipment and be available for call ins and call backs
Work closely as directed by the Plant Manager with other operating departments to reduce or eliminate down time
Support efforts to maximize production through creative problem solving and adaptation
Able to view PLC ladder logic and add circuits as needed
Assist in setting up preventative maintenance and electrical schedules for all equipment and maintain the PM and equipment database on the computer
Responsible for scheduling and completion of plant work orders and projects needed for repair, upgrades and install mechanical and electrical equipment as directed
Maintain clean and orderly work area and may assist other plant personnel in general cleaning duties
Remove, install, rebuild, weld, torch, lubricate, and clean all equipment associated with plant processes as assigned
Exhibit safe work practices as a condition of employment
Ensure compliance of all company and State and Federal regulatory agencies policies and rules, and assist in implementing approved changes
Ensure all daily documentation and accountability of required mechanical information in a timely and accurate manner
Maintain a team environment with other plant departments
Assist plant supervisors in their understanding and application of PLC logic / VFD controllers
Helps with interviewing and determining any new hire maintenance personnel
Approves overtime for all maintenance personnel
Trains all maintenance personnel including discipline for poor performance that can include termination of employment
Actively involved with Safety programs including performing supervisor observation audits
Involved in the maintenance of our terminal elevator (mechanically and electrically) as deemed appropriate by Maintenance Superintendent
Other duties as assigned by the plant manager and maintenance supervisor
