Position Purpose
The Production Supervisor utilizes machinery, materials and manpower available to complete the daily production schedule. All established quality standards will be met as well as creating and maintaining a safe work environment. The Production Supervisor drives plant wide and team based initiatives supporting material yield, line efficiency, standardized work and/or Total Margin Management. This position reports to the Operations Manager in a highly automated 24/7 dairy (industrial cheese and milk balancing) facility.
Qualifications:
Experience-Education Required
Bachelor degree required, preferably in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field and 1 year of supervisory experience in food manufacturing environment, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
Develop resource plans to effectively meet established weekly production, training, master sanitation and preventative maintenance schedules. Lead by example with regard to people and food safety. Create an environment conducive to meeting requirements while holding the plant team accountable. Apply problem solving techniques to determine root cause and corrective actions. Ensure compliance to all state and federal regulations. Ensure all associates follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) to support production of the highest quality product. Lead and support plant associates in the attainment of established production standards, goals and objectives including those associated with cost, quality, service, environment and people. Conduct ongoing review of labor efficiencies and productivity to identify and correct issues which are negatively impacting cost, schedule attainment, or the ability to meet customer demands. Champion continuous improvement activities for assigned team and/or plant wide initiative associated with material yield and line efficiency. Manage team by promoting and supporting a culture dependent on operator care, participation and engagement. Lead problem solving activities to identify root cause and drive preventative resolution of issues. Ensure standardized work is developed, utilized, updated and an integral part of our plant culture.
This individual works in partnership with support groups (QA, Maintenance, Finance, HR, etc.) in support of the plant, employees and product. Performs or coordinates all training required for production associates to be effective and safe in the performance of their jobs. Perform special projects as assigned.
Experience-Education Preferred
We are seeking this individual to possess strong computer proficiency particularly in Microsoft Office skills with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications with the ability to demonstrate resourcefulness, business acumen, creative thinking. Capability to deliver results and make decisions while juggling multiple and changing priorities in a fast paced environment Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills.
