The Maize Product Development research intern program is a 3-month internship designed to give broad-based exposure to the day to day activities of a corn breeding program. Interns in the program will participate in all aspects of the research center's activities during the months of the assignment including planting, plot maintenance, data collection, data quality monitoring, pollination, and sample collection. As part of the program, the individual will be expected to lead groups of co-workers to complete required tasks.

The intern will have an individual project and will be mentored by a member of the research center staff. Other opportunities to learn about DuPont Pioneer and the seed business can be made available.
The intern participates in some full time staff activities and programs.
The internship duration is from May to August 2014.

Skills:
Completion of at least one year of university studies by May, majoring in Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Genetics, or a related field.

A farm background is beneficial but not required.
High degree of personal motivation, initiative, and interest in research.

Computer aptitude and experience.

Good communication and interpersonal skills and the desire to work well and cooperatively with others.
