The Portfolio, Project & R&D planning and budgeting Manager is accountable and responsible for the management of the R&D budget in Functional Crop Care (APG): the alignment, management, and oversight of the projects, and R&D process of APG (annual investment 27 MIO Euros).
This includes the project justification, prioritization, and continuous assessment of the projects and current forecasts of the funds required.
They are responsible for analysis of the R&D cost structure of Global APG and to explain deviations between planned and actual budget.
The job role implies a close cooperation with other stakeholders in R&D process.
The Portfolio, Project & R&D planning and budgeting Manager fosters the interaction and collaboration with those functions.
1. Develop, propose and monitor approved R&D Budgets:
Assure alignment of R&D-planning with the long-range business plan of APG, through reconciliation with business (Global Marketing Managers) and R & D counterparts in the regions.
2. Accountable for overall APG R&D budget :
Responsible for cooperating directly with project planning and management counterparts in regions, global marketing and technical centers to forecast, account/track, and report costs and benefits of current and planned R&D expenditures.
3. Manage Project Portfolio:
Management and oversight of the overall R&D project portfolio of APG. Adaptation of APG project portfolio within guardrails/ budgets. Alignment of projects with priorities of crop teams.
4. Lead APG R&D Committees:
Facilitation of R&D Steering Committee process in APG.
5. Generation of Project ideas:
Facilitation of idea generation. Collection of project and product ideas from units other than R&D. Advise APG on strategies to grow APG portfolio by fostering the development of R&D projects.
6. Business Cases:
Support the preparation of business cases with specific information.
7. Ensure close Collaboration:
Foster the collaboration with APD Global Product Safety & Registration to ensure that projects meet the requirements.

- Bachelor’s degree with 15 years of work experience.
- Experience in the agriculture pesticide business, with demonstrated increases in responsibility.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in R&D for conventional crop protection.
- Experience in project management.
- Strong communication skills and experiences in managing complex projects with teams of people distributed around the world.
Preferred:
Advanced degree in business or sciences.
Work experience in R&D for conventional crop protection in a matrix organization.
Minimum 3 years of experience in an international (global) position.
Minimum 5 years of experience in developing and bringing to market biological crop protection products.
Experience working internationally within a multi-cultural environment.
