BASF Corporation is looking to hire a qualified candidate for field sales position located in North Central South Dakota. (Aberdeen or Huron). The territory will cover a wide range of crops including corn, soybean, wheat, sunflowers and dry beans. The Business Representative will be responsible for managing accounts in the territory and meeting BASF specified targets by creating value for the existing customer base through products, services, and/or solutions from BASF and our partners. Essential Functions Business Representative (Sales Representative) will be responsible for the implementation of the business strategy.
Creation of value based relationships with distributors, retailers, and other influencers that exceed customer expectations.
o Create a Territory Plan aligned with the district objectives
o Account Plan with a segmented customer base
o Sales call on an established customer base
o Understands and creates solutions based on the needs of the customer
o Provide value to the customer’s business outside of agricultural chemicals
o Profiled database of customer interaction and potential growth opportunities
Understanding the end use consumption of both of BASF brands and competitive brands
o Utilize information from the existing customer base to understand who uses the current brands sold
o Determine opportunities for growth both in new markets and existing segments
o Understand why customers use BASF brands and determine other needs that BASF can meet
o Work with teammates, influencers and growers to find areas for joint success
o Forecasting, implementing, and administration of marketing initiatives
Understands and communicates the value of innovation both in portfolio offer and in business concepts
o Work with influencers in the market to develop a plan for product introduction
o Educate and create excitement for new brand launches
o Determine the value that new brands can create for various touch points in the value chain
o Demonstrate creativity in new ways of approaching the market and use patterns for current brands
o Create local marketing plans that align with the business objectives
Exhibit a proficiency in business acumen to meet emerging needs of the customers and the roll of BASF Business Representative
o Continue to seek areas for self improvement
o Exhibits the ability to anticipate change and refine their skill set to ensure success in this new environment
o Manage a territory with an entrepreneurial focus and a measurement of profitability Required:
Bachelors Degree in Business, Science (such as Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology) or related field.
Minimum 3 years field sales, marketing, and/or account manager experience

Communication Skills – written and verbal
Demonstration of the ability to influence and impact
Other skills: strong presentation , business acumen, innovation/creativity, teamwork, time management
Preferred:
5 years field sales, marketing, and/or account manager experience
